1.          Reference By Speaker

          The Speaker made reference to the 63rd anniversary of the ‘Quit India Movement’ launched on the 9th August 1942 under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi and  paid homage to the Father of the Nation and  martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the motherland.

          He also made reference to the 60th anniversary of the dropping of atom bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

          Thereafter, members stood in silence for a short while in the memory of the freedom fighters and the victims of the atomic holocaust.

   2.          Questions

                  Due to interruptions in the House, Starred Questions could not be called for oral answers. Starred Question Nos. 221–240 put down in the order paper were,   therefore, treated as Unstarred and their answers together with the answers to Unstarred Question  Nos. 2327 - 2515  would be printed in official report for the day.
